Queen Mary to Reopen to the Public on April 1

It’s been shuttered since 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but after three years and a renovation project from the new operators, the Queen Mary is ready to reopen for public tours on April 1. Additionally, the public can also book a hotel stay aboard the vessel, with rooms available starting May 12th.

According to the Orange County Register, the Queen Mary has been under the City of Long Beach control after the previous operator, Urban Commons, forfeited its lease in 2021 due to mismanagement. New manager, Evolution, has since replaced the ship’s boilers, elevators and restrooms, repaired the plumbing and upgraded the parking.

Three tours will be available daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.: The Glory Days Historical Tour, the Haunted Encounters Tour and the Steam & Steel Tour. “It’s so exciting to welcome visitors back onboard this historic landmark,” said Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson. “We have worked tirelessly to protect the ship’s safety, preserve its rich history and bring it back to life.”
