Longview P&Z OKs Small Area Plans
Longview, TX Planning and Zoning commissioners approved an initiative known as the small area plans. The plans represent a set of regulatory and zoning concepts for development downtown and along the Interstate 20 corridor. The next stop for the plans, prepared by city committees and consulting firm Freese & Nichols, is the city council. If approved by council members, the plans would help guide future development.
The city’s staff will ask council members to accept the small area plans into Longview’s Code of Ordinances. Projects suggested by the consultants are valued at more than $160 million, and include approximately $100 million for housing options. The council will discuss the plans on July 13, 2017.
