PwC Renews Seaport District Offices Through 2036

PricewaterhouseCoopers has renewed its lease for the Seaport District tower that bears its logo, handing a victory to a high-vacancy Boston office sector, the Boston Business Journal reported. The Big Four accounting firm is taking 335,000 square feet at 101 Seaport Blvd., down slightly from its current footprint of 360,000 square feet. The renewal runs through 2036.

PwC occupies most of the 17-story tower originally developed by Skanska USA and now owned by an affiliate of Germany’s Union Investment Real Estate. The company’s move to the Seaport from the Financial District in 2015 was seen as a watershed moment in the neighborhood’s transformation into a center of corporate activity, according to the Business Journal. PwC has more than 3,200 partners and employees in the region.

The company maintains a flexible office policy, with “hybrid” employees onsite about 50% of the time and “virtual” employees coming in up to three times per month. The Boston office will undergo changes meant to support flexible work, reported the Business Journal.
