Put the Spotlight on Your Company’s Rising Stars

Response has been strong to Connect Media’s call for nominations in our fourth annual Next Generation Awards. However, we know there are more rising stars in this industry, and we welcome your input in finding them.

Earlier this year, we launched daily coverage in Washington, D.C. and Phoenix. We intend to find rising stars in these markets, along with those where we have previously established a presence.

As you prepare to nominate future Next Generation honorees in your market, we’re continuing our look back at the class of 2019. Each of these 2019 winners has made forward strides in his or her career since we spotlighted him or her a year ago.

Based in Dallas, Adam Abushagur was a first VP investments with Marcus & Millichap when we spotlighted him last year. He has since been promoted to SVP investments. Abushagur has shown unmatched leadership, as demonstrated in his swift trajectory to success with Marcus & Millichap.

Brookfield Properties’ Mark Kostic was promoted to SVP, asset management and leasing earlier this year, from the role of VP, asset management he held when he was named one of our 2019 Next Generation Award winners. In that capacity, he ran Downtown Manhattan’s reinvented Brookfield Place complex, and oversaw the Manhattan West complex under development in Midtown, among the youngest at Brookfield ever assigned such a high-profile role.

In the year since we profiled Cerise Marcela, she has taken on a new role and also a different type of employer. A Boston-based senior strategist and project manager at architecture firm Gensler a year ago, Marcela joined CBRE this past December as senior manager with the workplace strategy platform and as a member of CBRE Boston Consulting.

Just as we’re looking for Next Generation nominees from across the country, we’re also looking for candidates from across the CRE spectrum. Last year’s winners included rising stars in development, finance, ownership, technology and real estate law, to name a few of the disciplines that were represented.

After considering your recommendations, we’ll choose this year’s honorees. We’ll begin announcing them in August.

Candidates must be 35 or younger on Dec. 31, 2020.

Please return your nomination by June 30, 2020.
