Publix to Open Two Jax-Area Grocery Stores

Publix will open two area grocery stores over the next few weeks, one on Anastasia Island and the other in Nocatee, bringing the total number of Publix stores in the region to 30.

The Jacksonville Business Journal reports, for the Anastasia Island store, a complete rebuild and store expansion started last year with the demolition of a number of retail spaces. The new store will have approximately 54,000 square feet of retail space, up from its previous layout of 48,500 square feet.

The Nocatee Publix Marketplace will serve as the newly-built anchor for the Valley Ridge shopping center. The $14 million build will open in the just-constructed shopping development at 75 Irondale Road in Nocatee in mid-November.

The grocery chain counts 882 Florida stores at present.
