Publix, Sam’s Club Building Jax Distribution Centers
Publix Super Markets plans to build a 375,000-square-foot frozen foods warehouse in Jacksonville. The project, located at 10132 General Ave. on the city’s Westside, will rise on a 42-acre site. Publix acquired the land in 2012 for $3.07 million.
The warehouse approval comes as Publix also expands its retail footprint in St. Johns County, where construction is set to begin on one of the largest Publix stores in the state. Publix is also in the process of building a $30 million central fill pharmaceutical manufacturing facility that is expected to be completed in 2026.
A new Sam’s Club distribution center in Jacksonville will be located at 1511 Zoo Parkway in Imeson Park. The million square foot facility will provide same-day delivery to re-supply retail locations and long-term storage of seasonal items.
The Jacksonville Business Journal reports the facility is the first of its kind in the region, as it’s split into two sides of distribution for Sam’s: an import distribution center for other warehouses and a distribution center for direct transport to Sam’s Club retail locations.
