Public/Private Partnership Building $53M Austin Affordable Housing Project

The development is a partnership between the city of Austin’s Housing Finance Corporation, Missouri-based housing developer The Vecino Group and the nonprofit Caritas of Austin. The project will see 198 affordable housing units built across three four-story buildings at 900 Gardner Road, a 36-acre stretch of land owned by the city just off of U.S. Highway 183.

The Libertad Austin project carries an estimated cost of about $53 million.

All apartments will be income-restricted and affordable to families at or below 30%-60% of the median family income. The median family income for a three-person household in Travis County is $99,250.

A total of 50 apartments will be reserved for people experiencing homelessness. Caritas will provide supportive services and case management for residents.

There will be 59 one-bedroom, 95 two-bedroom and 44 three-bedroom apartments, ranging from 653 to 1,052 square feet.
