Property Tax Deadline Extended by King County
King County Executive Dow Constantine has extended the first-half 2020 property tax deadline to June 1, due to the financial hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This executive order only applies to individual residential and commercial taxpayers who pay property taxes themselves, rather than through their mortgage lender.
Banks and other financial institutions that pay property taxes on behalf of their lending customers will still need to meet the original April 30 deadline.
Constantine says, “Many homeowners are facing extraordinary financial challenges during this public health emergency. “My order provides short-term relief for individual taxpayers who own residential or commercial property, while allowing the state, county, cities and special purpose districts to continue meeting community needs as we all pull together to get through this unprecedented crisis.”
