Dallas's Henderson Street getting overhaul

Progress Being Made at Dallas’s Henderson Ave Assemblage

Any developer will tell you there is nothing easy about assembling disparate, non-adjacent properties with the hopes of one day building the dream project. Acadia Realty Trust is getting close. The company paid over $85 million for more than a dozen parcels put together by the previous property owner along Henderson Avenue east of US Highway 75. The purchase included more than 160,000 square feet of retail buildings and four vacant lots that will allow retail, offices and restaurants on the pedestrian-friendly strand.

Public filings show that Acadia Realty Trust plans to begin construction of more than 12,000 square feet of retail buildings along Henderson this summer. The one-story buildings will cost more than $3.4 million and were designed by Dallas architects GFF.

The new plans for Henderson come as the Knox Street business district, across US Highway 75, is experiencing increased activity with new retail, residential and office projects.
