Primary Corp. Tapped to Develop Final Parcel of Former Boston State Hospital Property
Primary Corp., in venture with Toll Brothers, has been selected as the developer for the final parcel of land at the former Boston State Hospital property.
Plans for the 10-acre parcel call for 367 residential units, of which 82 will be ownership units and 121 will be affordable units with 42 units designated for seniors. The proposal from Primary Corp. also includes food amenities, a farming initiative connected with the Clark/Cooper Community Gardens, a daycare, and a shuttle bus to the Forest Hills MBTA Station. Construction on the site is slated to begin in 2021 and conclude in 2024.
The Boston State Hospital was shuttered in 1979, after which the Citizens Advisory Committee was formed to support redevelopment. Additional completed and future redevelopment projects will result in approximately 200 ownership units, more than 50 affordable units for seniors and nearly 300 rental units.
