Presidio Seeks Developer for $200M Fort Scott Redev
The Presidio Trust is seeking a developer for the $200-million redevelopment of up to 22 historic buildings at Fort Scott. The “jewel” site is the largest untapped redevelopment opportunity left within the national park. The developer would fund the project, potentially using historic rehab tax credits.
The project involves renovating 272,000 square feet of interior space in the 1912 Spanish colonial barracks that surround a parade ground within a 20-acre site. The Trust envisions creating a campus for “mission-driven” organizations that work to address big social and environmental challenges.
The work involves restoring the buildings to LEED Silver standards, as well as developing a new transit center, entrance from Lincoln Boulevard and creating food service options for public and tenant use.
The Trust envisions issuing requests for concepts and qualifications in January 2018, followed by qualified developers submitting formal proposals, hopefully leading to a master developer agreement.
