Preiss Co. Secures $22M Construction Loan for Clemson Student Housing Project

The Preiss Co. has secured a $22.3 million construction loan for the development of Hartwell Village Apartments, a 185-unit, 433-bed, student housing project that is part of the Hartwell Village mixed-use development near Clemson University in Clemson, SC.

The property will be part of the 45-acre mixed-use Hartwell Village development, which opened in 2018 and currently contains two hotels, a Tru by Hilton and an Aloft, along with retail space occupied by Ulta Beauty, Marshalls, Five Below, PetCo, Michaels, Aldi and Rack Room Shoes. Hartwell Village Apartments will feature a resort-style pool, modern fitness center, resident clubhouse and high-end unit finishes.

Roger Edwards of JLL led a team that arranged the non-recourse construction loan on behalf of the Preiss Co.  The lender was not disclosed.
