Predevelopment Begins on Raiders Las Vegas Stadium
Earlier this week, construction crews began predevelopment prep at the 62-acre Las Vegas Raiders Stadium site at Interstate 15 and Russell Road. Equipment, such as heavy machinery, cranes and water trucks, were visible as work moves forward on a planned 65,000-seat domed stadium slated to be ready for the 2020 NFL season.
Henderson, NV-based McCarthy Building Companies Inc. and Minneapolis-based Mortenson Construction are building the $1.9 billion project. The construction timeline includes clearing the land in late November and early December, followed by blasting anticipated caliche from the site through late December. The inner stadium bowl’s 20-foot deep excavation is slated to start by the end of December, and run through mid-June.
The stadium’s structural concrete and steel work is expected to begin rising in 2018 and 2019. So far, the work involves grading and grubbing, as well as relocating utilities on the site.
