Praxair Plans $100M Expansion at Louisiana Plant
Praxair Inc. a global industrial gas company, is planning to invest more than $100 million in its Geismar, LA facility. The expansion will boost the Praxair’s carbon monoxide production, and continue to support growing customer demand in the Mississippi River corridor.
Carbon monoxide is a raw material that is used to produce specialty chemicals for the housing and auto industries. The expansion, which is anticipated to be completed by the second half of 2018, will include upgrades such as a carbon monoxide cold box.
The plant is currently integrated into a 90-mile hydrogen pipeline network stretching from Baton Rouge to Lake Charles, LA. Praxair’s facility currently serves customers including world-scale refineries and biofuel companies.
