Ports, USC, US Commerce Dept. Form Alliance
A new strategic partnership between the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, USC and the U.S. Dept. of Commerce seeks to improve supply chain efficiencies. The alliance will work to reduce inefficiencies and make the ports more competitive in a global marketplace.
The group says increased efficiencies can be achieved via the adoption of advanced technologies, including the digitalization of supply chains. Speeding up the flow of cargo is a critical trade factor and can positively impact economic growth and overall competitiveness.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker says, “To avoid port and cargo disruptions, U.S. ports must be able to implement port community IT systems that permit real time sharing of critical cargo information among all participants in the supply chain.”
