Portman Advancing Houston Apartment Venture

Portman Residential is moving ahead with a two-tower Houston apartment venture in which the buildings are across the street from each other but will be connected via a pedestrian bridge.

The Houston Business Journal reports that the $54 million apartment development near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Heights Boulevard will include two towers totaling 96,331 square feet of rentable space, including 172 units and 102 units. The two towers will be separated by Harvard Street (photo: courtesy Hoodline) but will be connected via pedestrian bridges at levels 3 and 5.

The larger eastern tower is expected to cost at least $41.6 million, while the smaller western tower is predicted to cost $12.4 million.

LRK Inc. will design the project.

The firm purchased 5 acres in downtown Dallas at the end of 2021 for the future Dallas Gateway, a three-tower mixed-use project in the Arts District that will include apartments, office space and retail..
