Portland Green Lights Live Nation Venue Proposal

The development team behind a proposal to build a concert venue fit for 3,500 fans on the Central Eastside of Portland recently received clearance from the city, paving the way for the project to move forward.

Beam Development and Colas Development Group, two Portland firms, are working with California-based Live Nation to build the 62,000-square-foot venue near the Hawthorne Bridge. The Live Nation plan has faced opposition from locals amid accusations of anti-competitive behavior by the U.S. Justice Department. Portland is the only major U.S. city without a venue owned or operated by Live Nation.

Another concert venue development project is also being pursued by Portland’s Monqui Presents and Los Angeles-based Anschutz Entertainment Group, which have teamed up to build a 4,250-seat music venue in the Lloyd Center Mall.
