Port San Antonio Unveils Innovation Center, Phase I
Port San Antonio approved plans for its innovation center, authorizing up to $1 million on architectural and engineering design development costs on the first phase, which will total 130,000 square feet. The design package is scheduled for completion by spring 2020. The center will include a technology arena, museum, collaborative technology transfer lab, industry showroom, community spaces and amenities.
The amenities will include a food hall, meeting spaces and room for STEM educational activities.
According to Port documents, the goal is to be shovel-ready by June 30, 2020. Port board members have already approved a pre-development agreement with American Triple I Partners, with the latter paying up to $1 million in initial project costs. Triple I would operate and maintain the facility for 20 years, pending board approval of agreements.
