Port San Antonio Retrofitting Lights
The 1,900-acre Port San Antonio is partnering with CPS Energy to retrofit lighting technology throughout the campus. The ultimate goal is an annual savings of $3 million to $5 million a year.
Port San Antonio, the former site of Kelly Air Force Base on Billy Mitchell Boulevard, is taking advantage of a CPS Energy rebate and tax incentive. The incentive is geared toward customers whose facilities have outdated lighting, and with fixtures that can be converted to the T5 fluorescent technology. The Port is installing more than 15,000 energy-efficient lighting structures in approximately 60 buildings campus-wide, at no cost to tenants or customers.
Granite Redevelopment Properties, which is renovating Gateway Residences at Port San Antonio (formerly Billy Mitchell Village Apartments), is also installing similar low-energy LED ceiling structures in each of the 374 units.
