Port San Antonio Begins $20M Construction
Port San Antonio, on the 1,900-acre site of the former Kelly Air Force Base in southwest San Antonio, began construction on a $20 million technology industry office building. The 90,000-square-foot building is expected to create up to 300 jobs, and developers plan to have the building ready for move-in by 2018. The building will have secure rooms for classified work, making it ideal for the cybersecurity industry.
Port officials have plans for five additional buildings within a new, technology industry office campus, that will provide 500,000 square feet on 17 acres. The city council is expected to approve $1.5 million to pay for public infrastructure on the new building site. The eventual goal is to fill the campus with national companies and local and regional start-ups.
