Port of Seattle Signs Off On $33M Fishermen’s Terminal Renovation

The Port of Seattle commission approved $32.6 million Tuesday for a project to renovate and reinforce its oldest building for a Maritime Innovation Center, reported the Puget Sound Business Journal. The project will involve lifting and temporarily moving the 109-year-old Ship Supply Building so the century-old pilings that form its foundation at Fishermen’s Terminal can be replaced.

Nonprofit organization Maritime Blue will be the managing tenant of the new facility, which has been part of the blueprint for Maritime Blue since its founding. In addition to being the home for Maritime Blue’s incubator and accelerator programs, the building will generate revenue by hosting events.

The Miller Hull Partnership will serve as the lead architect on the project, which will include 14,000 square feet of light industrial space and other meeting, classroom, and event areas. Construction is slated to begin by mid-2024 and wrap up by the end of 2025.
