Port of LA Issues Draft Plan for San Pedro Waterfront Connection

The Port of Los Angeles released a draft Waterfront Connectivity Plan for San Pedro, a long-term planning and visioning document outlining strategies to link Downtown San Pedro, surrounding neighborhoods and the larger region to the LA Waterfront. The plan is being developed in conjunction with design firm SWA Group.

Port and SWA staff will present the draft plan at the Sept. 7 meeting of the Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners. Another community input meeting is scheduled for Sept. 28.

“The Port of Los Angeles has made significant investments over the last two decades focused on deindustrializing the LA Waterfront and transforming it into a visitor and recreational destination,” said Mike Galvin, Port director of waterfront and commercial Real Estate. “Community input has been a critical component throughout the process.”

When finalized later this year, the plan will help guide future Port improvements and private development, according to the Port.
