Port of Corpus Christi Proceeding with New HQ

Commissioners with the Port of Corpus Christi voted unanimously to move forward on a new, $23 million headquarters building that will house port administrative activities. Bartlett Cocke Beecroft has been tapped for design and construction of the new facility, which will be adjacent to the Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center on Harbor Drive.

Right now, port staff takes up 37,000 square feet in two buildings on Power Street and Shoreline Boulevard. However, during the past several years, the port has become the nation’s largest exporter of crude oil, and the fourth-largest port in total tonnage. “This project is important to the future of the port,” Port Commission Chairman Charlie Zahn told the Corpus Christi Caller Times.
