Pollo Tropical Restaurants Rebranded as Taco Cabana
Eight months after Fiesta Restaurant Group Inc. closed six Pollo Tropical restaurants in Houston and San Antonio, the Addison, TX-based restaurant group announced it would rebrand at least three of the San Antonio locations into Taco Cabana spots. The parent company of Pollo Tropical and Taco Cabana are renaming restaurants at 4335 Thousand Oaks, 838 E. Bitters Rd. and 315 N.W. Loop 410. The Thousand Oaks location is already open, with the other two scheduled for June and July openings.
It’s not clear if the other three shuttered Pollo Tropical restaurants will eventually be converted into Taco Cabanas.
Fiesta Restaurant Group shuttered its Pollo Tropical restaurants in September 2017 because of “ongoing uncertainty in South Texas, including the effects of Hurricane Harvey and the limited awareness of the Pollo Tropical brand,” the company said in a statement, at the time.
