POAH’s Woodlawn Station Garners Tax Credit Excellence Award
The Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition said Friday that Woodlawn Station on Chicago’s South Side is a 2021 recipient of the Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award in the Large Metropolitan category. The 70-unit rental property was developed by Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH).
This year’s awards are presented as Congress considers major investments in housing infrastructure. “As we look to enact some of the most consequential social investments of our time, we ought to keep projects like Woodlawn Station, communities like Woodlawn, at the top of mind,” said U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin.
Durbin’s Senate colleague, Tammy Duckworth, commended POAH for providing social services and employment opportunities along with housing.
Presented annually, the Edson Awards honor affordable housing developments and organizations that have demonstrated impactful use of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit. Development was financed using the 9% Housing Credit, and investment was provided by JPMorgan Chase.
