Pleasanton plans new central hub for town

Pleasanton Working on Mixed-Use Central Hub

Growth in Texas is not just the domain of the major cities. Even small towns are feeling growing pains. The city of Pleasanton is redeveloping its downtown to accommodate booming population growth. The town has nearly 10,000 people.

The town, 35 minutes south of San Antonio, is converting its old high school gym into an event space as well as planning for a 200-unit apartment complex, retail, office space and parking. Town staffers have tapped Main Street as the place to accommodate the ambitious mixed-use project. Stantec is aiding the town with planning and design work. The San Antonio Business Journal reports the 22-acre planning area will serve as the “central hub” for the city.

Construction is expected to begin in fall 2024. The city says it expects more phases to come. Pleasonton says it’s the official birthplace of the Cowboy.
