Plastic Manufacturer Building $40M SA Factory
Sanko Texas Corporation, a Japanese plastics manufacturer, broke ground on its first U.S. manufacturing facility near Lone Star Pass and Applewhite Road on the South Side of Bexar County. The $40 million investment, on 43 acres, is tied to a county-approved tax incentive. The incentive package is estimated to be worth roughly $850,000 over a 10-year period. The Bexar County Commissioners Court authorized a 10-year, 75% tax abatement tied to the project. Sanko says it might hire up to 300 people.
The company manufactures plastic crates, pallets and industrial containers used in logistics and material handling.
Sanko will be a supplier to Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas, a nearby facility. The plant is expected to take approximately two years to complete. Construction will be led by Tokyo-based Kajima Corporation, which will serve as the general contractor.
