Plans Unveiled for Lago Mar 70-Acre MXU Development

Land Tejas Development announced plans to build a 70-acre, mixed-use entertainment destination in the Lago Mar master-planned community. The Texas City-based development will include a 12-acre Crystal Lagoon, which will be the largest in Texas.

Construction on the lagoon is scheduled to begin shortly, with the first phase scheduled for an early 2020 completion. Trez Capital is financing the lagoon’s development.

Additional phases will include beaches, a large cabana pool, two-story swim-up bar, event lawn for weddings and concerts, a clubhouse and event building. Also on tap will be approximately 250,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space, along with a hotel, condominiums and townhomes.

Lago Mar is a 2,033-acre master-planned community located near Interstate 45, approximately 14 miles north of Galveston. More than 4,000 homes are planned, with current commercial offerings including Tanger Outlets and a Buc-cee’s Travel Center.
