Plans Unveiled for 169-Acre MXU Katy Boardwalk District
Plans have been unveiled for the Katy Boardwalk District. The 169-acre lakefront development will be anchored by the city’s first full-service conference center hotel. Also on tap will be a 319-unit multifamily development, 155,000 square feet of retail space, 60,000 square feet of office space and a 90-acre natural preserve. The development will be at Kingsland Boulevard and Katy Fort Bend Road, south of Interstate 10.
Gensler designed the conference center hotel, and KDW is building it. Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2019, and the opening is planned for 2021. The hotel’s brand is expected to be announced in early 2019. Sueba Contruction Inc. will begin construction on Lofts at Katy Boardwalk, the residential component, in January 2019, with delivery anticipated by spring 2020.
Construction on the retail phase is expected to begin by late 2019. Lacee Jacobs of CBRE is handling leasing for the retail and entertainment component.
