Plans in the Works for $2.5B Dallas Uptown MXU

Developer Artemio De La Vega has taken the first steps toward work on The Central, a proposed $2.5-billion, mixed-use project in Dallas’ Uptown submarket. Demolition crews have been at work tearing down the former Affiliated Computer Services building at 282 Haskell Ave. to make way for The Central, which will span 30 acres at Haskell and U.S. 75/Central Expressway.

Upon completion, The Central is planned to hold five million square feet of office, hospitality, restaurants, entertainment and retail, with a 3.5-acre park in the middle of the project. The proposed first phase will include a 17-story office building, 320-unit high-rise apartment, a 430-unit multifamily project proposed by JPI, a 300-key full-service hotel and 150-room limited-service hotel. The phase will also include 110,000 square feet of restaurant and entertainment space.

Once complete, the project would be the tallest, densest development in the area between North Central Expressway and Ross Avenue.
