Plano Takes Office Construction Top Spot Among Texas “Small Cities”
Plano, TX, took top spot on Commercial Café’s list of small Texas cities that added office space from 2009-2019. Commercial Café, which relied on data from Yardi Matrix and the U.S. Census Bureau, defined “small cities” as those with populations less than 300,000.
According to Commercial Café, the smaller Texas cities added a total of 32 million square feet of office space during the 10-year period. Plano added 10.5 million square feet, with an additional 395,333 square feet under construction. Helping the inventory were the relocations of Toyota Motor Corp. and JPMorgan to Legacy West.
The chart below details the remaining top 10 small cities for office development in Texas.
