Plano Provides Incentives for Improvements to 50-Year-Old Mall

A 101,000-square-foot retail center in Plano is set for a significant renovation after going without one for 50 years. Parker Plaza West will undergo a $3.6 million upgrade that includes new landscaping, a resurfaced parking lot, facade and paint improvements, updated lighting and signage and a new irrigation system.

The Dallas Business Journal reports the City of Plano approved an incentive agreement that provides Parker Plaza with a $300,000 cash grant and a $295,000 retail revitalization grant to help cover facade improvement costs. These incentives are part of Plano’s retail revitalization program, which was approved in February 2024 to encourage the redevelopment of aging or underperforming shopping centers.

The 8-acre site is located on the northwest corner of Parker Road and Custer Road. The renovation project is expected to start within the next several months.

Currently, Parker Plaza West is 79% leased. The center is leased and managed by Harkinson Dewan. Commercial
