Plano Developer Has Big Plans for Vacant Big Box Store
Most Fry’s Electronics stores closed over two years, and since then, large retail centers have been trying to fill the void. It looks like Plano has its answer.
A new plan to redevelop the area that used to be home to the 172,000-square-foot Fry’s Electronics is slated to appear before Plano City Council after a favorable vote by the town planning and zoning commission.
Bay West Development proposed 501 apartment units, 33 townhomes and 70,000 square feet of commercial use for the property. The proposed commercial use includes office space and a 100-key hotel. The proposed redevelopment also aims to provide residents with easy access to the Richardson DART station and restaurants within Richardson’s City Line district.
The phases would entail residential development in phase one, then the office space and hotel in phase two.
Bay West says the hotel and residential buildings would offer several amenities for residents.
