Planet Granite Looks to Scale New Heights in Lincoln Park MXU

Lincoln Park residents may find themselves climbing the walls when Structured Development’s latest tenant opens its doors at the developer’s Shops at Big Deahl mixed-use project. That’s because the tenant is Planet Granite, a climbing gym which has signed up for 40,000 square feet to establish one of the largest such facilities in the U.S., with climbing walls as high as 55 feet. It’s slated to open in 2020.

A beneficiary of the recent North Branch Industrial Corridor rezoning, this corner of Lincoln Park also is home to a 57,000-square-foot Dick’s Sporting Goods, one block east of the Big Deahl site. In addition, REI recently leased a 40,000-square-foot building a half-block south.

“All of these uses help establish the Halsted Triangle as a hub of recreation, furthering the city’s vision of activating not only the river itself, but also the neighborhoods that surround it,” said Structured founder J. Michael Drew.
