Pinterest Takes 490K SF at Alexandria’s SoMa Campus

Pasadena, CA-based Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc. signed a nearly 490,000-square-foot lease with Pinterest at 88 Bluxome St. in San Francisco. The deal brings pre-leasing at the roughly one-million-square-foot mixed-use campus to nearly 60%, and represents the first major lease signed at a development project in support of the city’s Central SoMa Plan.

Alexandria’s Stephen A. Richardson says, “This transformative community-focused development represents a meaningful opportunity for us to create a new destination that will revitalize the neighborhood and stimulate innovation and job growth in SoMa, while it also further enhances Alexandria’s visible pipeline of key future value-creation development projects.”

The campus will feature a distinctive, next-generation technology and life science building with active ground-floor retail space and outdoor deck spaces throughout the building. Also planned is a community recreation center with two new swimming pools and a public activity space, a child care center, an air rights parcel deeded to the city for affordable housing development, a pedestrian art walk, PDR space and a linear park.
