DoubleTree UT Austin owners plan major expansion

Pinnacle Plans Major Addition to Austin Hotel Site

A three-acre parcel currently the site for the DoubleTree UT Austin hotel could soon have company. The Austin Business Journal reports that Pinnacle Hotels is developing plans to expand its holdings, thereby proposing two towers consisting of hotel and apartment units. To be called Pinnacle Plaza, the developers hope to build as high as 25 stories with amenity decks 55 feet high.

The six-story DoubleTree hotel currently has 149 rooms and a 3,000-square-foot building used as meeting space. Both were constructed in 1997.

Pinnacle’s hotel portfolio includes nine properties in California and Texas. The company owns the downtown DoubleTree UT Austin and the DoubleTree Northwest Arboretum. Its other properties include a Courtyard by Marriott near the Del Mar Racetrack and a Four Points in downtown San Diego.
