Pig and Khao Founders Come to Harborside
Piggyback Bar will open Thursday September 21, 2017 at Harborside, a cultural district on the Jersey City waterfront.
“We have been looking to expand our brand outside of New York City. Harborside in Jersey City was a logical choice, since it is so close to the city and is a beautiful area with amazing views,” said restaurant owners, chef Leah Cohen and partner Ben Byruch. The two also created Pig and Khao, which has served Southeast Asian cuisine on the Lower East Side for the past five years.
“We love style and talent, and Leah and Ben bring a ton of that to the table,” said Michael J. DeMarco, chief executive officer of Mack-Cali, developer of Harborside. The community currently spans 4.3 million square feet along the waterfront – with an additional 1.2 million square feet planned – including class A office and retail space.
