Pier 2 Embraces Technology and Sustainability
Tired of your current apartment space? Humphreys & Partners LP might have an interesting option for you.
The Dallas-based architect and design firm recently unveiled designs for Pier 2, an apartment project that will go north on the Manhattan waterfront. But Pier 2 is not your average multifamily concept. Rather, it is a “100% sustainable project (designed with) modular and micro units, co-working spaces and every amenity a futuristic apartment dweller needs to thrive,” according to a company release. Specifically, the buildings offer artificial intelligence, drones, home automation, autonomous vehicles and activity and wellness centers.
Pier 2 will offer:
Ground-level retail space with smart shopping capabilities
Photovoltaic glass, wind turbines and green walls, along with Tesla energy
Vertical farming and park/recreation areas, complete with facial recognition technology
Elon Musk’s proposed Hyperloop could also be a factor. According to the Pier 2 website, Humphreys & Partners’ site plan would accommodate such technology, along with automated parking systems, full-service bike stations and energy-generating walkways.
