Phoenix ok's zoning for state's tallest skyscraper

Phoenix Okays Construction of Tallest Skyscraper

Phoenix’s tallest tower will rise 541 feet in the air, nearly 60 feet higher than the current tallest building, Chase Tower. The Arizona Republic reported a plan to develop Arizona’s tallest skyscraper cleared its final hurdle as the Phoenix City Council okayed the downtown Phoenix project.

The $535 million development, called Astra, is planned by Aspirant Development, part of the Empire Group. It’s expected to be build at Second and Van Buren.

In total, the project will bring about 2 million square feet of building space to the 2-acre site that will include 697 apartment units, 229 luxury hotel rooms, 185,000 square feet of office space, and 36,000 square feet of commercial space, like retail and restaurants.

The buildings feature a rooftop amenity deck on the tallest tower for residents, offering views from the highest building in the city. The hotel will be a luxury hotel, but there is no brand associated with it yet.
