VAI Resort adding indoor theater, convention center

Phoenix Mega-Resort Adding Indoor Theater, Convention Center

VAI Resort is expected to be the Valley of the Sun’s largest resort. The massive development will include four hotel towers, The Mattel Adventure Park, a public beach and a $50 million amphitheater. And now the developers of the $1 billion resort want to add a 180,000-square-foot theater venue with 2,000 seats for live performances, Broadway shows, artists, comedians, movie premieres and more.

Besides the new indoor theater, it is adding a new convention center across 200,000 square feet, including 94,000 square feet of meeting or event space and 34 flexible meeting rooms that can host individual events for up to 1,300 people, such as weddings and corporate gatherings.

The resort is set to start opening in late 2025. Fisher Sand and Gravel is developing the project.
