Pflugerville Moving Ahead on Major Downtown Development Project

The mixed-use development will be home to a new City Hall and a 120,000-square-foot recreation center as well as a variety of other commercial and residential buildings. Pflugerville town officials are calling the 29 acre project, Downtown East.

Plans developed so far for Downtown East indicate the development could include up to 130,000 square feet of retail, 120,000 square feet of commercial, 500 multifamily residential units and 75,000 square feet of hotel space. Griffin Swinnerton/Catellus has been chosen by the town as the master developer and is working on a final design.

The City has approved the development’s recreation center; four basketball courts and a multilane pool will be among the center’s features.

The project officially moved into the developer solicitation phase in July.
