Pflugerville CDC Awards Grant for Main Street Plaza Construction
The Pflugerville Community Development Corp. (PCDC) awarded a challenge grant to the city of Pflugerville for construction of Main Street Plaza, a new public gathering area on Main Street. The 6,500-square-foot plaza, situated from Main Street to Walnut Avenue, is downtown’s first community gathering area. The plaza officially opened in late April 2019.
The project was completed with a community build project, “Plazapalooza,” which included mural painting and a block party with food trucks celebrating the plaza’s official opening. “The PCDC Board awarded this grant to the City of Pflugerville to help them transform an area of downtown into a community gathering place with art and activity for all ages,” PCDC Executive Director Amy Madison said. “They matched the grant with sweat equity from city staff and community volunteers.”
