Perryman on the Election: “Brexit on Steroids”
The election outcome can be classified as “Brexit on steroids,” according to Waco, TX-based economist Ray Perryman. The economist, who heads up his own economics company, spoke as part of a panel at an election aftermath seminar presented by the Dallas Regional Chamber.
The panel, overall, agreed that uncertainty was the name of the game with a Trump presidency. Still, issues such as tax reform and job creation could receive a boost. The large concern, however, was Trump’s threat to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico.
Perryman, for one, said highly restrictive immigration would hurt Texas because of the low number of unemployed people in Texas. “We can’t function without that (immigration) workforce,” he told the Dallas Business Journal, adding his hope that cooler heads would prevail.
