Penn National Suspends Ops at Midwestern Casinos for 2 Weeks

Amid coronavirus concerns, Penn National Gaming said Friday it would temporarily suspend operations at its casinos in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. The two-week suspensions were ordered by the Illinois Gaming Board, the Indiana Gaming Commission and Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine.

“The health and well-being of our guests and team members will always be our paramount concern,” said Penn National CEO Jay Snowden. “Since the coronavirus threat began, there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at any Penn National casino, and we have implemented stringent CDC-recommended protocols throughout our enterprise.”

The suspensions affect the Hollywood Casino Aurora, Hollywood Casino Joliet and Hollywood Casino Alton in Illinois; Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg and Ameristar East Chicago in Indiana; and Hollywood Casino Columbus, Hollywood Casino Toledo, Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway and Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course in Ohio. Penn National said it would continue paying casino employees during the suspension.
