Pebblebrook, Margaritaville Reveal First West Coast Resort
Bethesda, MD-based Pebblebrook Hotel Trust and Palm Beach, FL-based Margaritaville Holdings plan to open Margaritaville Island Resort in San Diego in 2020. It would be the brand’s first West Coast property, and be located on the 44-acre Vacation Island in Mission Bay.
The site is currently home to Paradise Point Resort & Spa, which Pebblebrook acquired in 2018. Davidson Hotels & Resorts will continue to operate the existing property until the hotel is reflagged.
Following a $35-million renovation and conversion, the property will feature 462 casita-style single-story guestrooms, with waterfront views on a mile of beachfront overlooking the marina and Mission Bay.
Planned are signature Margaritaville food & beverage concepts, and new recreational activities and family-friendly amenities. The property will include 80,000 square feet of meeting space, a marina, spa, tennis courts and fitness center. The property’s five pools and public spaces will be updated to reflect Margaritaville’s “no worries” lifestyle.
