Partners Prepare to Buy & Develop DC’s Buzzard Point

A consortium of real estate developers and investors is acquiring 2100 Second St. S.W. in Washington, DC, and plans to redevelop it into Riverpoint. The former U.S. Coast Guard HQ site at Buzzard Point will include 80,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space, as well as more than 450 apartment and condominium units.

The group is led by a pair of Washington, DC-based firms, Akridge, and Western Development Corporation, and is joined by Orr Partners, Redbrick LMD LLC, and Jefferson Apartment Group.

The team envisions creating a vibrant, mixed-use community, connecting the area with the new DC United stadium and other developments along the Capitol Riverfront. Riverpoint will offer three sides of unobstructed water views, as well as waterfront activities with new piers, floating restaurants and the continuation of the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail.
