Park District Will Relocate HQ to South Side

The city plans to relocate the Chicago Park District headquarters from leased space in Streeterville to Brighton Park on the South Side. The proposed site of the new headquarters will cost $8.65 million to acquire, and an RFP to design the new facility will be issued in the coming months.

“Moving the Chicago Park District headquarters to Brighton Park will bring jobs, energy and open space to a great Chicago community,” said Mayor Rahm Emanuel. “Chicago is famous for our world-class park system, and this timely relocation will help ensure a strong future for the Chicago Park District in a great new neighborhood home.”

The relocated headquarters will move approximately 200 existing Park District jobs to Brighton Park, and will also include new recreational assets for a neighborhood that’s short on open space. Currently, Kelly Park is the only regulation-sized soccer field in the area.
