Parakeet Communities Hooks Geiger Key Marina and Fish Camp in Key West for $15M
Rockville, MD-based Parakeet Communities has completed its $14.8-million acquisition of Geiger Key Marina, Restaurant, RV Park and Fish Camp in Key West, FL.
Billy Nash of Nash Luxury at Illustrated Properties partnered with David Kendall at SVN Florida Commercial Real Estate Advisors in representing the seller, which had owned the asset since the 1970s.
“Early in the pandemic, I felt there would be strong demand for remote and private destination properties like Geiger Key and Quail Creek,” said Nash, who also closed the $10.7-million sale of a waterfront compound on Marathon’s Grassy Key in 2021 and $25-million sale of Quail Creek Plantation in Okeechobee in 2021.
Geiger Key is named after Captain John Geiger, one of Key West’s early residents. It sits about 30 minutes from Old Town and includes an RV park with nearly 40 pads, boat basin, restaurant and tiki bar.
Parakeet, which specializes in operating manufactured housing communities throughout the US and has over 25 communities in FL, plans to operate the property as is.
