Packwell to build 725K SF resin packing plant in Bayport

Packwell Starts Work on New 725K SF Bayport Resin Packing Plant

La Porte-based Packwell has broken ground on a new 725,000-square-foot resin packaging facility at Port Houston’s Bayport Industrial Complex. The Houston Business Journal reports the facility is expected to handle 20,000 export containers annually when it becomes operational in early 2024.

The Bayport facility is the latest addition to Packwell’s 1.5 million-square-foot facility network across greater Houston. The new facility will support well-known resin exporters such as Bayport Polymers LLC and Novealis Holdings, which have expanded their polyethylene resin production plant in the area.

A recent Port Houston survey reported that while imports have softened in recent months, demand export containers, especially those carrying plastic resins and petrochemical commodities have, has remained strong.

Established in 1986, Packwell is a plastics bagging and logistics company that handles polymers of all categories, including polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride and other specialty chemicals.
