Oxford Adding to Its Already Healthy Life Sciences Portfolio
With a strategic eye on the quickly evolving life-science needs and technology of the future, Oxford Properties Group has acquired a nine-asset, 13-building life sciences portfolio in San Diego’s Sorrento Mesa and Sorrento Valley, Calif., area.
Oxford, a leading global real estate investor, asset manager and business builder, acquired the 650,000-square-foot portfolio for $464 million.
Since 2017, Oxford is a known player in the life sciences and its facilities, exemplified most recently with more than $2 billion of acquisitions in North America in the past 12 months – including facility purchases in the Bay Area and Seattle.
San Diego is particularly well-primed in life sciences as one of the most important life science markets globally:
Nearly 40 percent of its population holds a bachelor’s degree or higher (U.S. average in this area is 28 percent)
Area universities graduate more STEM talent than any other region in the US.
